Our Farm
Fruit Obsession since Childhood
Finding out we both had an obsession with growing food - and especially fruits - was the beginning of this journey. It took a few years to get it all together, but now we are there.
Christopher comes from a family of farmers in Denmark, where he spent many summers and vacations with the relatives on their various farms, although he never actually owned one himself.
Danny is a doctor and a scientist, but besides also having a dream about growing food and helping the local community, he has also previously done research on the cancer-blocking qualities of various fruits - mostly tropical ones.
After getting it all planned out and starting our farm, our particular combination of focus on food as medicine both holistically and scientifically, combined with just an interest in all things fruit, has given us a very unique farm, with a mission and an approach you wont see at many other farms.
Our Story
Local/Community/Food/Respect
One of the most amazing things we discovered, shortly after meeting each other, was our shared love for helping communities. Danny is from Puerto Rico and though farming here is very different from Denmark, it all seemed like the perfect place to see our mutual dream come true.
What is that dream? Farming, and the interest in farming, has been drastically declining over the last many years. Puerto Rico has also seen devastating loss of farms due to hurricanes and the fact that so many people leave the island for other places. We aim to change that. Our mission, besides making farming cool again, is to supply local stores, people and communities with better access to fresh fruits and vegetables, and also educate on the importance of these thing, something that has also been slipping over the years. Puerto Rico has a climate that should make it overflow with fruit farms! But it isn't! Due to certain rules and regulations, it is also very hard to sell locally grown things.... locally.... Further complicating the situation here.
An added element for us has been the further research on the importance of various fruits in the fight against cancer and many other ailments, conditions and diseases. Besides the Danes Boricua Farms, we also operate a laboratory in Puerto Rico. This place also comes into play in our quest for a revolutionary and new way of doing farming.
